Meeting 12th November 2013

Talk by Martin Way:

"Tin Helmets and Gas Masks"

A meeting held in the Village Hall on Tuesday 12th November 2013 at 7.30pm.

On a previous occasion, the Society enjoyed an entertaining evening with Martin Way who gave a talk on the life of the Anglo-Saxons. At this return visit, Martin explored the work of the Home Front during World War 2, such as the contribution of the civilian population who provided active support for the military through him defence, the mobilisation of women, rationing etc.

This stirred some memories and gave an insight into life at that time for younger generations. Martin Way brought along many items of interest and memorabilia to illustrate his talk.
