Sutton Bridge 1883

Previous

Although entitled "Culham Bridge", this picture is actually of Sutton Bridge.  It is a common misconception that the bridge crossing the Thames between Sutton Courtenay and Culham is called Culham Bridge. This is incorrect. Culham Bridge is actually the old bypassed bridge over the Swift Ditch off of The Burycroft in Culham.

There are two bridges over the Thames at Sutton. The southernmost over the main channel of the Thames (pictured here) is called Sutton Bridge. The northernmost over the exit to Culham Cut is called Culham Lock Bridge.
