Scans of several postcards recently acquired by Nigel French have been uploaded to the website.  

Among others, these postcards show views of Church Street, Sutton Courtenay Schoolthe Weir, The Wharf, Sutton Courtenay Manor, and Abbey View in Sutton Courtenay, as well as many more of Abingdon and Sutton Courtenay’s neighbouring parishes.

OLHA - Autumn Study Day

Thame

The Oxford Local History Association’s autumn study day will be on Saturday 15 October 2016 in Thame. 

Three expert speakers will discuss various aspects of the history of this ancient and fascinating market town, and there will be an opportunity to visit the excellent museum and to go on a town walk.

Talk on History of Oxford Botanic Gardens

At the Society’s meeting on Tuesday 27th September 2016, Timothy Walker, former Director of the Oxford Botanic gardens, gave a talk on the history of the  Gardens from their foundation in the 17th century to the present day.  For a brief report see here.
